Alsace: Part 9

Colmar

I woke up the morning enjoying a dream that left me laughing. Although we all headed our separate ways yesterday morning, you returned in my dream and we had another adventure. Safe and wonderful travels to you all. Thank you.

My solo journey began with a lesson on how to navigate on the regional train system. Not difficult once you get oriented. On board, I made the mistake of sitting on the left side near the window. Later I was startled beyond belief when a north bound train screamed past as we headed south. Otherwise a short pleasant journey. The next lesson came when I arrived in Colmar and looked for a taxi. Went the wrong direction first but finally connected.

Arrived at my beautiful hotel in the heart of old town. The tour book says “ These 14C and 17C houses sit around an inner courtyard and Renaissance staircase.” So these buildings were around in the Siblings time, but no reason to believe that they were in this area. This part of my trip is to see Colmar and tour the wine villages.

My first day in Colmar is walking the streets and getting a sense of the town. So today’s post will be primarily buildings. Tomorrow will be touring the city and museums.
