COUNTRY SIDE
Again I start with an apology…. this time to you the reader. I just had time to reread the earlier posts and they are laced with typos. So sorry but I am trying to do this as we go and I don’t always have proofreading time.
Now that we are on the barge, we are gently sailing during the day and dock for the evening. The food is wonderful and I am surrounded with very agreeable travel companions. Much of the land we are passing is farmland that is probably similar to the lands the Siblings knew in their youth. During our 65 mile journey down the canal back to Strasbourg we will pass a number of locks each day. This morning we passed through the Rechicourt lock. At 45 feet, this is the highest lock of the French canal system and it was built in 1965,
During the afternoon, we took a field trip to Sarrebourg to see the largest stained glass window by Marc Chagall. It stands 36 feet high and 25;feet wide. Trust me when I say photographs do not convert the majesty of this piece.
